Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE)
for CSU Students

The Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE) is a teacher incentive program designed to encourage students to become California teachers in a range of critical teacher shortage areas and in several types of high need schools. Administered by the California Student Aid Commission, the program assumes up to $19,000 in outstanding educational loan balances in return for four consecutive years of qualifying teaching service.

This website has been set up to help you learn about and apply for the APLE loan forgiveness program. Awards are available at this time, and you are encouraged to apply immediately. Please follow the four simple steps below to get started.

New awards are not available during 2012-13, but all current APLE loan cancellation agreements will be honored. The APLE program still exists, and it is possible that new awards could be re-instated in 2013-14. You are encouraged to visit this web site again in July 2013 to obtain an update.
